Book Sale Dates 2014
Since the library has been renovated, there is a new Friends area that will always have at least some new and gently used books for sale.
There will be points throughout the year when tables will be set up for a more traditional "book sale" but we're not sure about a standing schedule at this point.
We currently have tables set up for a book sale as we continue to discard library items that no longer fit into the collection. It will be up until further notice.
Friends of the Westfield Library
The Friends of the Westfield Library (FOWL) is an organization designed to promote and support the mission of the Westfield Washington Public Library. Through its fundraising efforts, primarily book sales held every other month, and our Annual Craft Bazaar and Silent Auction, the group raises money used to fund library programs and to purchase items that are not in the library's operating budget.
How Can You Help the Friends?
Become a member - Your dues support our mission and your ideas are the key to our success. Members enjoy benefits of up to 40% off of new books ordered through the Friends, 10% off of Friends merchandise (used books and tote bags), a copy of the monthly "Links" newsletter mailed to you and the option to shop at the members only preview of each book sale.
Assist with Craft Bazaar & Silent Auction - Each October the Friends host an Annual Craft Bazaar & Silent Auction as our main fundraiser for the library. This exciting event offers many different areas in which we need volunteers. Whether you enjoy event planning, making contact with local businesses, or publicizing the event to the Westfield community, we can use your talents!
Help with Book Sales - The Friends organize book sales as a primary fundraiser for the library. Volunteers are needed to help set up and/or tear down the sales, and to serve as cashiers during operating hours. There are also opportunities to volunteer between sales to organize the weeded and donated books that make up the inventory.
Serve on the Board of Directors -
The Friends Board of Directors meets eight times a year (every month except Dec, Jan, March and April) to discuss business matters, vote on expenditures, and plan fundraising events. All members are welcome to attend and any member is eligible to hold office.
Sponsor a Magazine - For an average of $15 (depending on title) you can sponsor a magazine for an entire year. Whether there is a specific title we don't carry that you would like to share or you just want to support one of your favorites, feel free to contact us about sponsorship. Special thanks to the following donors for supporting these subscriptions:
