Homeschool Resources

We have many library resources available to homeschoolers. Besides having a vast collection of regular fiction and non-fiction books, we have supplementary items such as Research Guides, Leap Frog books & cartridges, Educational videos and more. The library also subscribes to Homeschooling Today and Life Learning Magazine. Homeschooling Parent, a free bi-monthly publication, is also available in the Children's department.

We do offer programs during the day that are targeted to homeschoolers. Some of our recent programs have included writing classes, foreign language classes, chess classes, drama classes, history and culture workshops, and math games. Many programs of this nature require pre-registration and pre-payment. We are striving to offer more opportunities for homeschoolers during the day at no cost to you. Please check with us regularly for current program information. If you have any ideas for programs you would like us to do, please let us know that as well

Looking for more extracurricular activities for your homeschoolers? Look no further! We have a list of local extracurricular activities which offers a wide variety. The list includes everything from martial arts to more traditional sports like baseball/softball, basketball, soccer, swimming & tennis. There are also other unique ideas such as cooking classes, fencing lessons and sewing instruction. Don't forget about choir, band, theater, gymnastics and dance. Not to mention activities for the whole family including bowling & ice skating.

Attention Homeschool kids and parents!

Join us on the first Thursday of each month (Oct-May) from 11:00AM to 1:00PM for lunch and social time. Crafts and games will be available in the craft room and story pit. Food is welcome in the craft room while you visit with area homeschoolers and parents. If the weather is nice, we will meet at Asa Bales Park (located directly to the east of the library).

Educational Videos

For students and homeschooling parents, we have compiled a list of the videos available in the A/V department grouped by subject. They are in both the children's non-fiction and the adult non-fiction sections. Please remember that they are filed under their respective Dewey Decimal numbers and not by title. If you have any questions, the personnel at the audio/visual department counter are equipped with this list and have the knowledge to help you find the film you are looking for.
